My latest impromptu piece, called “Goblet”. I began by chain-sawing off a large chunk from an old Eucalyptus tree trunk that has been sitting in my yard for a couple years. Once shaped enough to put on lathe, I began turning, not quite sure where it would end up. Once completed, it just didn’t have the height I though necessary to make it a balanced composition. So I welded up the base and screwed it into the bowl. This is approx. 12″ tall x 6″ wide.
